A variety of uniforms,
one common goal

The rebirth of the Polish Armed Forces was a protracted process, but one conducted with great enthusiasm. During the war against the Bolsheviks, it represented a colourful mosaic of people from all over the world, wearing a variety of uniforms; however, they all shared a common goal - to defend the independence of a reborn Poland. They all served under the white eagle banner or the white and red national cockade.

A Masterpiece
of Quartermaster Work

Individual units of the Polish Armed Forces inherited the equipment and weapons from the occupying armies: Austrians, Germans, and Russians, as well as those purchased from the Entente: British, French, American, Italian, Greek. Some Polish soldiers even used Japanese weapons, equipment from Mexico, Hungary, and many other countries. The supplying of ammunition to the front, where units that fought right next to each other were using a variety of weapons, was evidence of the skill of the quartermasters.
